For my urologist appointment tomorrow I'm bringing this chart:

I wonder what the good doc will say (my previous urologist closed his practice, so I'll be meeting the new one for the first time). My dad is a prostate cancer survivor which increases my risk for the disease. I'm 55; my dad was 62 at the time of his diagnosis. I'm hoping nutritional adjustments might defer this ailment, but it feels like my remaining years of sexual health have a sword of Damocles suspended above them.

My dad is a prostate cancer specialist. Professor of Urology at Baylor College of Medicine. Real good at what he does. He actually pioneered a nerve graft surgery that restores pretty much full function post prostatectomy. obviously not so much the reproductive part but the point is even with a positive diagnosis it does not necessarily mean your sexual future is doomed. Treatment options have also come a very long way, particularly in the last decade or so. Thats still a worst case scenario though. lots of things can cause a PSA spike. If this guy doesnt inspire your confidence maybe I can ask my dad about some good ones to check out up there. I know one of his old colleagues (the former chief of his dept) practices at Memorial Sloan-Kettering now.

I like my new urologist, Dr. Ivan Grunberger. He said that were I a decade older my PSA level would not be noteworthy, but at my age it warrants a biopsy, which he will perform in his office guided by ultrasound in two weeks.

sounds like the man's on top of his game. Thats definitely in line with best medical practices. Looks like you found yourself a winner. I think its important that one be able to repose complete confidence in anyone who is going to be placed in charge of that aspect of a man's well being, dont you?

It's not an unflattering pic. I'm guessing he looks his age, but that eventually happens to most of us.

I just saw the guy a couple of weeks ago. he's not that pudgy in real life and his hair and beard usually look neater and better trimmed.
