A brief description of the saddest day in the Jewish calendar, its observance, and two Manhattan congregations that offer educational programs along with prayer services.
Interesting. I was aware of most of the Tisha B'Av anniversaries, but was not aware that WWI also started on that date.
I wonder if you could be specific about what actual event occured on Tisha B'Av of 1914, because there are a few different events associated with the outbreak of WWI and am not sure which one you are referring to. The assassination of Archduke Ferdinan, Austria-Hungary's declaration of war against Serbia, Germany's mobilization against Russia, or any of the other subsequent declations of the various countries that occured over the following weeks?
I don't mean to sound petty, but my knowledge of WWI is pretty limited and I'm not sure what actual event is considered the official start of that war.
