I've always been attracted to things Jewish -- I always blamed it on an early reading of the Diary of Ann Frank... but, my mother gave me family history to post in an lj, and come to find out, my generation is 1/8 Jewish.

Jokingly, comparing it to Blacks in the south during slavery, one family wag commented, :"Mom, you're the Jewish equivalent of a Quadroon, and we're octaroons."

This is serious stuff if you were born in Biloxi, MS.

We're all mixed breeds. 13 months ago I posted this article (http://davidfcooper.livejournal.com/350483.html) which says I and other Ashkenazi Jews are a mixture of middle eastern and European. In the middle ages a Spanish descendant of the prophet Mohamed converted from Islam to Christianity. His many descendants spread out across Europe, married and had children, and now most Europeans are also descendants of Mohamed.
