There is no conceivable justification for such cruelty. In an historical anecdote, this was one of the ways the ancient Romans killed political prisoners. After the defeat of the Bar Cochba revolt in Judea during the reign of Hadrian the Romans killed Rabbi Akiva by exactly this method.
No part of me understands how they can cope with what they have done. And in the film the first animal was tossed aside and STILL left alive, it's poor pathetic little paws still left on. I'm not telling you off but I wish I hadn't seen it, it's really haunting me. And, sadly, it's kind of preaching to the converted, because I already support a great deal of what Peta does. I'm not a vegetarian (yet) but as far as the recreational use of animals goes (most zoos, most experimentation, "fashion", hunting and pets), I'm on their side. The only reason I have pets (my rats) is because I got them from a rescue...I would never pay anyone to breed a pet and sell it to me, there are just too many unwanted animals. And I think the use of a "pet" is more like the use of a slave than a companion. At least people with working animals have an honest relationship with them...Oh, I need to stop getting carried away now.
