Congrats on the new gig!

I just read your article, and I have to admit that I am not especially tempted to move to either area, despite the lower cost of living. Then again, I freely admit that I am a bit of a location snob. :-}

Thanks, Laurie :)

We're also location snobs and have no plans to move. The understated message is the other side of "Location, location, location": if you can't afford your current location consider a less desirable one.

BTW, examiner.com is looking for writers. See if they'll let you write a political opinion column for them. Or you could become one of their Boston examiners writing on another topic of interest to you, such as food or atheism/agnosticism/skepticism.

Good article, David. Quite interesting (especially for me, as I've recently taken an interest in factors that go into a relocation decision). Shows a lot of research. And I wish you good luck with your new job.

Unfortunately for Debbie and I, we're looking for affordable places IN New York, not out of it, since she cannot give up her job nor drive.

I look forward to reading more articles by you. If you're really looking for topic ideas, how about a discussion of Jewish landmarks/museums in NY for tourists (or maybe even locals) to visit.

Thanks, Jonathan :)

If Debbie can neither change jobs nor drive look in Queens. I've heard that Long Island City, Astoria and Jackson Heights are less expensive than say, Forest Hills or Kew Gardens.

Thanks, David. Forest Hills and Kew Gardens both seem really nice, but I really can't afford it. Long Island City also seems a bit on the expensive side. I'll take a closer look at Astoria and Jackson Heights.

BTW, examiner.com is looking for writers (if you're looking for another outlet for your film reviews).

Oh, interesting! Tell me more. Are they based in NY? What do you think they might pay me?

They're in Denver, and the pay is negligible ($10 for every 10,000 clicks). It's mainly for exposure.
