NYC is vegetarian heaven!

There are so many choices...what kind of cuisine do you like?

Raw foods: Pure Food and Wine, Quintessence

Pan-Asian: Gobo, Zen Palate

Trendy bistro: Counter

Eclectic: Blossom, Red Bamboo

Korean/sushi: Franchia

Thai: Pukk

Indian: Madras Mahal, Pongal, or any of the other 6-10 vegetarian, kosher Indian restaurants within a block of there

These are all either strictly or mostly vegetarian. Lots of other places, especially ethnic restaurants, will have at least a couple of vegetarian things on the menu. Try Afghan, Turkish, Thai, Indian, or Moroccan!

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] hammercock. Wow, for an out of towner you sure know our restaurants!

We're leaning toward the Brooklyn version of Red Bamboo (http://www.redbamboobrooklyn.com/).

Many if not most of the dishes at Red Bamboo in Brooklyn (http://www.redbamboobrooklyn.com/) seem to be variations on soy schnitzel. The house soy chicken is soy schnitzel in bbq sauce, the Bourban soy chicken is soy schnitzel in that kind of sauce, the soy pork chop is soy schnitzel in an apple and raisin sauce, etc. Their "Death By Chocolate" is a pretty good chocolate cake, but not the drenched in chocolate mouse version we've enjoyed elsewhere. The music was too loud, but the wait staff were attentive.

Prolly too late for the anniversary, but here are the suggestions i got for you:

One is kosher. Here they are:

1. Gusto Va Mare (Kosher): http://www.gustovamare.com/

2. Oceana: http://www.oceanarestaurant.com/ - Seafood

3. Molyvos: http://www.oceanarestaurant.com/ - Greek

Both Oceana and Molyvos are part of the Livanos Restaurant Group so they have one website.

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] anaisdjuna. See my reply to [livejournal.com profile] hammercock above.

Greek food is usually too salty for my restricted diet, and the two fish restaurants are a bit pricey. We've eaten at the City Limits Diner which is also owned by the Livanos Group, and for Diner food it's quite good.
