Yesterday Shoshana and I were walking in lower Manhattan, and as we passed the sex shop on Ann Street I pointed to the display window and blurted out, "look at how many kinds of lube they have!" Shoshana blushed and couldn't stop laughing.

As women get closer to menopause many do need lube. One of the lubes in the window was the one we use, "Millennium ID."

Every woman is different, so maybe you'll be lucky and not need it. It's really not so bad. We keep bottles of it on our night tables so it's always in arm's reach (unless we're fooling around in another room in which case we have to go get it). Shosh still gets plenty wet, but her wetness has lost its former viscosity, hence the need for lube.

Well, I think I am going to remain celibate until I fall in love so the lube supplies of Santa Barbara will be safe from me!

Did you see the American Experience episode on Kinsey on PBS? They quote Kinsey as saying that the only unnatural kinds of sexuality are 1) abstinence, 2) celibacy, and 3) delayed marriage. But hey, do whatever feels right for you.

I don't think I'll remain religiously or unnaturally celibate, but I think I will be far more careful about getting involved. I think my brief post divorce dating experience has made it painfully clear that I allow myself to think the best of people when such trust may not be warranted.
