There is a certain vanity in being wiretapped. I remember the cachet that bloomed among the radical chic depending on who had the thickest FBI file or just having one at all. Since it is all super duper double secret I may never find out if I have been tapped. Time to take up tap -dancing and join the Rat Pack.
It has been an open secret for years that US calls are routed through Great Britain where they are monitored by MI5 as a favor to the US government. That way it is Brits spying on Americans, and the actual taps are overseas. Perfectly legal. We return the favor for them I'm told.
