I endorse Edward Ordman's comment below the article. Senator Obama is the candidate most likely to ensure that Israel remains both a Jewish and democratic county. Jewish Israelis will soon be a minority of the inhabitants of the land between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan river; if a Palestinian state does not achieve full independence before that happens Israel will cease to be a democracy. Senator Obama is committed to taking a more active role in mediating the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, and such a role is urgently needed. It is hard to imagine Senator McCaine as a trusted and effective mediator of any dispute in the Middle East. Indeed, McCaine's partisanship and temperament make him ill suited for such a role.
