budget priorities (x-posted in israelipolitics)

Friday's Yediot Aharonot reported that the defense budget is being cut to provide funds to sustain the poor. It's probably no coincidence that the minister whose ministry's budget is being cut campaigned in the recent election for just such priorities; it's a gutsy move.
